Vermilion River

As a smaller river, there are occasional deadfalls and strainers to watch out for. It is a tributary to the Illinois River. It flows north, unlike the southward flowing Little Vermillion River.
The Vermillion river flows 3-5 MPH on average, and features a gradient of 6.7 feet. This contributes to rapids by Matthiessen State park
Trips:
South Streator to Jonesville (end of river): 30 miles
