Why am I running for clean water?
Thank you for considering supporting this great cause. There are nearly 700 million people in the world who do not have readily available access to clean water. These unfortunate people will walk an average of 4 miles (6 kilometers) per day, to fill up a 5 gallon jug (which weighs nearly 41 pounds) so that they have water to drink, wash, and cook with.
World Vision has a great process in place where they can provide a local and sustainable source of water, and can accomplish that at a ratio of $50 per 1 person. That means every $50 donated, 1 person is no longer in critical need for water.
