Yesterday, I embarked on an 11 mile trip with two friends. We went from Weigand Park in Naperville down to Electric Park. As there were 3 of us, we took my 15 foot canoe, rather than kayaks. The weather was hot, up in the 90s.Current was pretty solid, average of 1-2MPH.
So, I finally dumped in my canoe... 4 times. With a lower water level, there were lots of rocks in the first stretch of river prior to the merge. Unfortunately, with my trip mates being new to canoeing, we had a tough time balancing. As time went on, we got the hang of it though.
With all the dumping, it took about 5 hours to go 11 miles. While that was a far cry from my solo kayak trip a couple weeks ago, it still felt like we kept a decent pace.
